How the Foundation makes grants
What we fund
- Education and training
- Relief of poverty and financial hardship
- Healthcare and emergency medical services
- First aid and life-saving initiatives
- Community organisations
- Religious and charitable organisations
- Projects benefiting communities in the UK and overseas
- Individual hardship grants, where the Foundation's purposes permit
- Capital projects
- Equipment
- Specific programmes
- General or core funding, where appropriate
Funding is always assessed against the Foundation's governing document. Where a proposal falls outside those objects, the trustees cannot fund it however worthwhile it may be.
What we generally don't fund
- Commercial or profit-making activities
- Political campaigning or party-political activity
- Activities falling outside the Foundation's charitable objects
- Applications where the trustees cannot establish appropriate charitable benefit
- Applicants unwilling to provide reasonable verification, documentation or reporting
From application to monitoring

Application
The applicant completes the online form and provides documentation.

Due diligence
Identity, financial, project and risk checks proportionate to the grant.

Trustee decision
Trustees approve, decline or request further information.

Grant agreement
An award letter sets out the purpose, conditions and any restrictions.

Payment
Payment is authorised to the verified bank account of the recipient.
06
Monitoring
The recipient reports on expenditure, beneficiaries and outcomes.
Before you apply
Please have your registration details, latest accounts, bank account name and a clear description of the project and its intended beneficiaries available. Individual applicants should be ready to describe their circumstances and provide a referrer where possible.
Decisions are made by the trustees. We aim to acknowledge every application, and we may contact you for further information before a decision is reached.
